Ken Rickard is new to the educational training scope of the profession, but is definitely not new to the teaching profession. Ken started as an uncredentialed intern (started teaching 8th grade science mid year) and is now a fifteen year teaching veteran who is currently teaching various subjects at the high school level.
Ken attended three different colleges/universities earning a degree in biology with a concentration in genetics. Ken attended Merced College where he earned his two year degree while playing basketball for the Blue Devils. After a short stint at California State University Monterey Bay, he returned to the Stanislaus valley where he graduated from CSU Stanislaus earning a BS in Biology 2006. Also earned from CSU Stanislaus was his teaching credential during the 2008-2009 school year. Ken has taught in a variety of settings ranging from 8th grade science to high school Biology/AP Biology. Ken Rickard is currently teaching Biology, Honors Biology, AP Biology and AP Environmental Sciences at Hughson High School in Hughson, California.
Ken is married to Maria, also a veteran science teacher of 15+ years. He enjoys sports, family time, and especially summers traveling. Ken is passionate about mentoring new teachers and fostering a sense of belonging of students in the classroom.

Paul was born, raised, and educated in the central valley (for the most part). After four years in the Air Force, various jobs, and a directionless, but interesting, decade of taking college courses, teaching finally found him. Paul actually had his first teaching job before he finished his degree (BA Mathematics) and continued working while finishing his credential in an intern program. 21 years later, he still has the same passion for teaching that he had as a rookie teacher.
Paul is a firm believer that setting procedures and expectations will make life in the classroom better for everyone. Being as prepared as possible makes each day, week, month, and year pass much easier. Establishing a student/teacher rapport based on the idea of being friendly without being friends also goes a long way to getting successful outcomes in a classroom. He thinks that having fun in class makes students much more likely to learn and retain material.
When he has spare time, Paul enjoys reading and listening to music. He likes to be with family and friends doing all kinds of activities. However, his favorite thing to do is spend time with his wife, and fellow teacher, Julie.
