COUrSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides educators of all grade levels and teaching experiences a self guided experience exploring tricks and tips in Google. Educators will benefit by getting the most from Google.

Correspondence will occur once every week until course requirements are met. Evidence of 15 hours per unit must be submitted. Locations will vary due to technology needs and be determined on an individual basis.

There will be 12.5 hours of instructional sessions per unit of credit during this course. The type of communication will be determined by the participant and Valley Teachers Group.

PRIMARY LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Hide and save (don’t delete) packaged and posted assignments that you didn’t get to during class time.
  • Enable real-time feedback for presentations.
  • Use emojis to code learning activities.
  • Include learning targets in every posted activity or assignment.
  • Get a quick sense of your students’ progress.
  • Share homeroom Classrooms with all teachers who teach the same grade level courses that you do.
  • Share homeroom Classrooms with all specialist teachers.
  • Post once to multiple Classrooms.
  • Adjust Google Classroom notifications to silence emails and notifications from Classrooms that do not belong to you.
  • Structure weekly times for your homeroom students to review email inboxes and organize Classroom assignments.
  • Create a school-wide Google Classroom.
  • For administrators: create a Google Classroom for teachers on staff, with administrators as teachers and teachers as students.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Scholastic/academic time log must be submitted at completion of the course. 

The keeping of a time specific log documenting research, activity, and curriculum is required. Evidence of 45 clock hours per each unit of credit must be recorded to meet course requirement. These clock hours shall be comprised of 37.5 instructional hours and 7.5 independent practice. Included in these hours, you will include a narrative of the instructional sessions.

3 units = 5 reflection papers along with final project. The six instructional sessions will be set upon enrollment. Any additional correspondence will be conducted on request.

All people participating in the educational process at Fresno Pacific University are expected to pursue honesty and integrity in all aspects of their academic work. Academic dishonesty, including plagiarism, will be handled according to the procedures set forth on page 8 of the Fresno Pacific University Catalogue.

COURSE MATERIALS

Upon enrollment the participant will receive the following via email: A Google

FINAL PROJECT

Ready for use in the classroom.

Participant will submit a completed unit plan and an academic time log.

EVALUATION CRITERIA FOR CREDIT

Grading Criteria:
Grades are Credit/No Credit (CR or NC). Credit is equivalent to a B grade or above. Letter grades are not issued.

Participants are evaluated based on successful completion and submission of:
  1. Time log narrative proving a minimum of 15 hours per unit of credit including the instructional sessions – 30%
  2. Response to each of the 34 MS Word tutorials – 40%
  3. Proper documentation and citation in all work for this course – 10%
  4. Participation in all agreed upon correspondence. – 20%

Completion of these items will result in a passing grade for the participant.

POLICY STATEMENT

These courses are post-baccalaureate, professional development units that are not part of a degree program, but are designed in collaboration with school districts and other educational organizations to meet specific staff development needs. Students should seek approval of appropriate district or college officials before enrolling in these courses to satisfy any degree, state credential, or local school district requirements.
