COUrSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides educators of all grade levels and teaching experiences a self guided experience exploring tricks and tips to make your classroom and your curricula more eco-friendly. Educators will benefit by embedding existing curriculum and methods that will reduce our carbon footprint on our Earth and teach sustainable living while still benefiting both learners, their parents and other educators.
Correspondence will occur once every week until course requirements are met. Evidence of 15 hours per unit must be submitted. Locations will vary due to technology needs and be determined on an individual basis.
There will be 12.5 hours of instructional sessions per unit of credit during this course. The type of communication will be determined by the participant and Valley Teachers Group.
PRIMARY LEARNING OBJECTIVES
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Scholastic/academic time log must be submitted at completion of the course.
The keeping of a time specific log documenting research, activity, and curriculum is required. Evidence of 45 clock hours per each unit of credit must be recorded to meet course requirement. These clock hours shall be comprised of 37.5 instructional hours and 7.5 independent practice. Included in these hours, you will include a narrative of the instructional sessions.
3 units = Assignments 1-6 along with final project. The six instructional sessions will be set upon enrollment. Any additional correspondence will be conducted on request.

COURSE MATERIALS
Upon enrollment the participant will receive the following via email: an example of an academic log used during your coursework; directions to the required written course materials: The Everything Green Classroom Book: From Recycling to Conservation, all you need to create an eco-friendly learning environment (Everything (School & Careers), a list of additional websites that promote sustainability in the classroom, and guidelines for the final class project.
FINAL PROJECT
Ready for use in the classroom.
Participant will submit a completed unit plan and an academic time log.
